| The
rules established by the National Federation of State High School Assn.
for boy’s high school basketball shall apply. The following
modifications of those laws and rules will supersede any rule in
conflict and have been adopted by the SJAA Board of Directors. |
| |
|
1. |
All
players must play in the first half. |
| |
|
2. |
All
players must sit out one full quarter and that shall be the first
quarter possible. |
| |
|
3. |
All
players must play one entire and uninterrupted quarter. |
| |
|
4. |
The first
quarter a player will play is their ASSIGNED quarter. |
| |
|
5. |
If a
player fouls out or is injured in their assigned quarter, the opposing
coach must pick a player to finish the assigned quarter. That quarter
will not count as a quarter played for the player picked |
| |
|
6. |
If a
player is injured or fouls out in a quarter other than their assigned
quarter, and there is no one on the bench who has sat out a quarter,
then that team will play SHORT until they have an eligible player. (One
who has sat out a full quarter). |
| |
|
7. |
It is the
responsibility of the coach with only six players to notify the
officials before the game begins that they have only six players. At
that time, the opposing coach MUST PICK TWO PLAYERS TO PLAY THE ENTIRE
GAME. However, if any of the six players should be injured or foul out
in any quarter other than the first quarter they play in, the team will
play short. |
| |
|
8. |
If
additional player(s) arrive before the third quarter begins, they may be
played in the third and fourth quarters. |
| |
|
9. |
Any coach
who does not abide by these rules will forfeit the game where the
illegal substitution took place. |
| |
|
10. |
All
players must check in with the official scorekeeper and shall enter and
leave the court at the mid-court line. |
| |
|
11. |
If
through injury or fouling out, either team has less than five players,
that team may continue to play the game, however, if the team falls
behind 20 points, the game can be terminated by the officials. |
| |
|
12. |
A team must put on the court a minimum of five eligible players
in order to commence the game. Teams may not use loaned or other non-rostered
players to make up a minimum team. Failure of a team to field a minimum
number of players within 10 minutes of the starting time will result in
a forfeiture of that game. If neither team can put on the floor a
minimum number of players within the starting time, both teams shall
receive a loss. |
